Handcuffs
This piece was originally made for a class about teaching sex ed to k-12 students using art. It began as a series of 5 pillows that related to sex (condoms, lube, etc.) The concept was that if these controversial objects were placed casually a home, it would make conversations about sex feel more natural as children get older. I later remade a larger version of the handcuffs with a new meaning. Using contradictory materials was an important part of this pieces’ departure. I am rethinking what a pillow can be by using a shape with s different than the context of a pillow as well as using soft fabrics to recreate an intimidating and rigid metal form.
